Writer's picture: The Autistic Realm Australia Inc. The Autistic Realm Australia Inc.

Updated: Jun 28, 2022

The Autistic Realm Australia does not support ABA in any of its forms.
We reject all non-affirming approaches, and approaches designed to enforce typical social and behavioural norms.

Use this list to be informed about practices to be wary of.

  • "new" ABA

  • ABA + relationship-based therapy

  • Discrete Trial Training (DTT)

  • Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EBEI)

  • Early Start Denver Model (ESDM)

  • Incidental Teaching

  • Intensive Behavioral Intervention (IBI)

  • Natural Learning Paradigm (NLP)

  • Play-based ABA

  • Pivot Response Treatment (PRT)

  • Positive behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS)

  • Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

  • Relationship Development Intervention (RDI)

  • Social Skills Training (SST)

  • The Lovaas Method

  • The PEERS Program

  • Verbal Behavior (VB)

  • VB-MAPP

  • Whole Body Listening

Remember:
All Behavior is information.
There is always a cause.
It serves a purpose.
It describes an unmet need.
Solutions can only occur when the cause is understood.

We at TARA acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country, and that operation and administration of this organisation takes place on the stolen, unceded land of First Nations.

We recognise the Traditional Owners' continuing connection to land, waters and culture and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Many thanks to Diedre from Blackfulla Revolution for their support and advice on our acknowledgement statement.

As marginalised minorities with a different story, but both with a long history of violence and oppression perpetrated against us, we stand together.
