Shared from Equality Australia
The ACT Parliament has just passed Australia’s first laws to protect intersex people from unnecessary medical interventions without consent. This achievement follows years of campaigning by intersex individuals and organisations, and we commend their efforts and celebrate their success.
These laws will go a long way towards giving intersex people in the ACT the right to choose what happens to their bodies.
We call on every state and territory to follow the ACT’s lead, by passing similar laws.
Sign the pledge in the comments and help ensure intersex people in every state and territory have the right to decide what happens to their bodies.
